What are Casuals Networks?

Casuals Networks are made up of precarious university workers who support each other and work together, and with the NTEU, to improve the conditions of insecure university workers. The big wins and media attention on wage theft and other issues affecting precarious workers have often been led by Casuals Networks.

Casuals Networks meet regularly to organise within their workplaces and often meet with and report to CUPUW on their activities and goals.

DEAKIN UNIVERSITY

The Deakin Casuals Action Network is a group of casual workers at Deakin organising against insecure & exploitative working conditions. We acknowledge that we work on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri, Wadawurrung, and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nations and the Gunditjmara peoples.

LA TROBE UNIVERSITY

The La Trobe Casuals Network is a group of casualised workers at La Trobe University who are dedicated to improving working conditions for ourselves and other workers in our position. All of our members volunteer their time. We acknowledge that we work on Aboriginal land, the lands of the Wurundjeri and Boonerwrung peoples.

MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY

We are a group of precarious workers at Macquarie University. The purpose of this group is to share information, support each other and organise to obtain better conditions for casual and fixed term academic and professional staff. We hold regular meetings, share resources and work closely with the NTEU to resolve issues as they emerge and build a fairer future for everyone. Although many of us are NTEU members, and we strongly endorse joining the NTEU, this group is not an NTEU entity.
